Christoph H. Arns is a Professor at the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering, U. of New South Wales. e-mail: c.arns@unsw.edu.au. Prof. Arns is a pioneer in the area of Digital Rock Physics (20 years) and specialises in the area of pore-scale petrophysics on the basis of micro-tomographic images including the integration of digital and conventional core analysis. His work has focused on the morphological analysis of porous complex media and numerical calculation of transport and elastic properties as well as NMR responses. His primary interest lies in the combination of 3D tomographic imaging technology and NMR spectral techniques for petrophysical applications. Prof. Arns is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Distinguished Technical Achievement Award of the SPWLA in 2017, the Australian Museum Rio Tinto Eureka Prize for Commercialisation of Innovation (2012), and the 2015 Premier's Prize for Science & Engineering: Leadership in Innovation in NSW (Australia) and is currently chair of the Council of the Interpore Society. Arns holds a Diploma degree in physics from the U. of Technology Aachen, Germany and a PhD degree in petroleum engineering from the U. of New South Wales, Australia.
